Keizer Transit Center

The new, $3.5 million Keizer Transit Center project includes eight (8) bus bays with shelters, a park-and-ride lot, a passenger drop-off area, bicycle parking, and a building that houses passenger services. The site and the Passenger Services Building feature many sustainable strategies. The building's orientation was considered to maximize energy efficiency. the roof design resembles a check-mark shape in which the south-facing roof features photovoltaic (PV) panels. The green roof system on the north-facing leg contributes to the site's storm water management and increases the insulation value of the roof. Heating and cooling are provided through a ground-source heat pump system that uses moderate temperatures in the ground to reduce the operational costs of the system. The lighting for the building and site feature low-energy use fixtures. Site storm water is collected and treated through a series of rain gardens planted with native plants and grasses that clean and slow the water before it leaves the site. The project will be completed and open to the public in Summer 2013.  More»
